Dolma, more commonly known among unoriginal folk as Stuffed Grape Leaves, is an essential Azeri dish that is prepared by mixing rice, minced lamb meat, mint, some spices and neatly wrapped in grape leaves.
Ingredients:
- Grape leaves
- 1 medium onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 4 teaspoon of olive oil
- 1.5 cups of long-grain rice
- 1 teaspon of salt
- Fresh mint
- 300-400 grams of lamb (depending on your meal size)
Although it might take 45-60 minutes to cook, the process itself is rather simple. All you need to do is mix the rice, meat, chopped garlic, onlion, mint and spices together, lay them on the leaves, wrap them, put them in a pot very tightly together, fill with water, seal with a plate so that they don't unwrap. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 30 to 40 minutes.
