- 500 grams of beef chuck or beef sirloin
- 0.35 cup of canola oil, or extra light olive oil
- 2 medium onions
- 3 medium carrots
- 1 teaspoon salt for meat and 1.5 teaspoons salt for rice
- Half a teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 3-4 bay leaves
- 3 cups long-grain rice (saffron-flavored rice)
- Hot water
- 1 head of garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
